This weekend marks Round 7 of QRL statewide competitions. This will be the last of the round games for our Capras Junior teams. For our Harvey Norman U19s Capras team, they will head to Mackay to take on the Cutters and after a lot of footy being played in CQ at the beginning of the season, head coach Cedric Auda has been preparing his team for a few weeks of trips on the road.

“Preparation for this week looks like us going back to look at our areas of development and fine tuning those area. We have welcomed the opportunity to travel to represent Capras in the North of Queensland over the last few weeks. We understand this will be a different atmosphere and that our opponents will be on their home turfs. That can sometimes prove to be an advantage, but the team has been working hard in order to put our best foot forward for these games”.

The Harvey Norman U19s season is relatively short with just seven rounds plus a finals series for those who advance, but has been important for our Capras teams to develop the players of the future.

“Our goal for the season is to build better players both on and off the field through our pathways systems. The Under 19s Harvey Normans program is a good pathway to build better players in the Central in central QLD for our BMD pathways”.

At the completion of the Harvey Norman U19s season, players will return to their local community footy and some may even go onto continue training with our Capras BMD Premiership team.

“What I would like the players to take away from the season is our team values, new skills they have learnt & their experiences of becoming a better player & I do hope the players can share their journey with the Capras to there family , community and there club to enhance the future girls & becoming a better player/person. I Quote Capras motto.. To be that message “. For the Capras..”.

Head coach Auda, has been impressed with his team on and off the field this season as they head into the pointy end of their footy.

“The thing that has impressed me thus far is the team, we are a new developing team where all players are keen to build on their current skill set. The reason we have a good atmosphere within the team is because of the people working behind the scene which is an advantage to our girls and their positive mindset. I want to recognise that my job is supported by the hard work of my coaching staff & players: team manager Tanya Champion, strength & conditioning Coach Aimie Pearce, assistant coaches Scott Curtis & Nikki Carpenter. I do take my hat off to our team & my coaching staff without my team and handwork we would not have this opportunity”.
