Last Friday evening our Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras gathered along with our stakeholders for our 2024 Season Launch. With Round 1 of the Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership upon us and plenty of Junior footy been played, it was time for our club to officially come together to kick off season 2024. A fantastic evening at the Rockhampton League’s Club’s Paddock Bar, overlooking a Friday afternoon Hostplus Cup training session saw our valued sponsors, volunteers and players & staff come together as a club.

The evening started with an official welcome from our CEO Peter White and discussed all things season 2024, including; facing the challenges of relocation for season 2024 (after March 16th), our continued great relationship with the NRL Dolphins moving forward, playing majority of our Capras home games at Rugby Park which includes a lighting upgrade at the venue and hospitality. Peter closed with thanking our valued sponsors, volunteers and staff for making 2024 season possible.

We heard from Rob Crow for the QRL on the Browne Park redevelopment. He presented the plans on the new look Browne Park and the vision for the redevelopment being the leading venue for community, national and international sporting and entertainment.

We were joined by all 6 Capras teams for our launch, hearing from all our Junior coaches on how their seasons are progressing so far and what is still to come for the remainder of the season. Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership coaches Lionel Harbin and Julyess Jarvis spoke about their preseason preparation and leading into Round 1 of fixtures this weekend. Through the generous support of the SMW Group and Rockhampton Leagues Club the club has been successful in securing Marquee signings Tamika Upton as well as Jesse and Hannah Southwell for season 2024. The three Newcastle Knights players expressed how excited they were to pull on the Capras jersey for the 2024 BMD season and that they are proud to represent the Central Queensland community. Tamika hinted that she had some unfinished business in the Capras colours after a heart-breaking Grand Final lose on the buzzer in 2022 and is keen to play some good footy in her home region.
