In an energetic clash at Rugby Park, the BMD Premiership Central Queensland Capras faced a tough challenge against the Souths Logan Magpies. Despite a spirited comeback in the second half, the Capras fell short, losing 16-34 to the Magpies.

The match began with the Magpies dominating the field, showcasing their offensive prowess as they racked up an impressive 28-0 lead by halftime. Evania Pelite and Destiny Brill were particularly impactful, scoring two tries each in the first half. Their seamless plays, complemented by Chantay Kiria-Ratu’s successful conversions, set a daunting pace.

However, the Capras, undeterred by the first-half onslaught, rallied remarkably after the break. Led by Krystal Sulter, who ignited the comeback with a try in the 56th minute, the momentum began to shift. This was quickly followed by Hannah Southwell and Tamika Upton, who added tries in the 62nd and 66th minutes, respectively. Jesse Southwell converted both tries, injecting hope into the Capras’ comeback.

Despite their valiant effort and a notable improvement in both strategy and execution, the Capras were unable to bridge the gap fully. The Magpies, with a solid lead from the first half, managed the game well towards the end, ensuring their victory.

While the outcome was not in favour of the Capras, their second-half performance was commendable. It showcased their resilience and ability to fight back under pressure, attributes that will serve them well in future matches. The Capras will take many positives from this game, especially their improved teamwork and determination in the face of adversity.
