Three Central Queensland rugby league stars have been recognised for outstanding performances this year. See how they have been awarded here.

CQ Capras’ duo Trey Brown and Bailey Butler have capped stellar seasons with inclusion in the 2023 Hostplus Cup Team of the Year.

Brown was named at hooker and Butler at prop in the quality line-up announced at the Queensland Rugby League Awards lunch at Brisbane City Hall.

Rockhampton’s classy fullback Tamika Upton won the Annie Banks Medal for Queensland’s Player of the Year in the women’s State of Origin series.

Brown and Butler were instrumental in getting the Capras to the preliminary final for the first time since 2009.

They put in a spirited showing, only to be beaten 14-6 by the Brisbane Tigers, who take on the Burleigh Bears in Sunday’s grand final.

Brown also finished equal second on the Petero Civoniceva Medal tally for the competition’s best and fairest, three points behind winner Trai Fuller from the Redcliffe Dolphins.
