CQC vs SLM Hostplus 1

In a spirited display of resilience, the Hostplus Cup Central Queensland Capras faced off against the formidable Souths Logan Magpies at Rugby Park. Despite the challenging opposition, the Capras showed commendable tenacity, ultimately falling 10-22.

From the kickoff, the Capras were put on the defensive as the Magpies’ Denzel Samoa scored early, setting thetone for the game. However, the Capras’ resolve was visible when Robert Jennings broke through to score at the 19th minute, signalling a fightback. The conversion attempt was missed, leaving the Capras trailing.

The Magpies, however, continued to press their advantage, with Jordan Pereira scoring twice before the half, and Ethan Quai-Ward adding another in the 50th minute.

Despite the scoreboard, the Capras’ effort was palpable throughout the match. Bob Tenza’s try in the 57th minute, followed by a successful conversion from Trey Brown, brought renewed energy into the Capras’ play, narrowing the gap and igniting hopes of a possible comeback.

The game’s tempo increased as the Capras sought to capitalise on their momentum, but the Magpies’ defence held firm. Tristan Sailor’s penalty goal in the 79th minute sealed the win for the Magpies, despite the Capras’ gallant efforts.

The Capras’ performance, especially in the second half, highlighted their unwavering spirit and determination. While the victory eluded them today, the Capras’ hard-fought battle at Rugby Park is a testament to their potential and fighting spirit.
