The importance of Round 23 was evident across the competition.

Teams were playing for their place in this year’s finals and the desire to lock in home finals or finish the regular season on a high note was clear.

Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and names the Hostplus Cup Team of the Week, presented by Hostplus. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games.

Round 23 Team of the Week

1. Blake Moore – Central Queensland Capras

The Central Queensland No.1 was firing on all cylinders against the Tweed Seagulls on Saturday. Working strongly with five-eighth Anthony Milford, Moore bagged a hat-trick to lock in a week one home final for his team. The fullback also recorded 118 run metres, four tackle breaks and three line breaks. It was a strong week for fullbacks across the competition with the likes of Trai Fuller (Redcliffe), Zac Miles (Sunshine Coast), Matt Milson (Wynnum Manly), Radean Robinson (Souths Logan), Tahj Wood (Brisbane) and Jaylan De Groot (Ipswich) also starring.

6. Anthony Milford – Central Queensland Capras (C)

It was a do-or-die situation for the Capras on Saturday and Milford knew exactly what to produce to guide his side to the finals. The Dolphins NRL-affiliated playmaker stepped up at the right time to dish out four try assists to claim the two points. Milford also crossed for himself and notched up a huge 180 run metres, five line break assists, three tackle breaks, two offloads and one line break. He also had seven kicks for 200 metres. It was an inspiring performance in a crucial moment. Other instrumental five-eighths included Dantoray Lui (Pride) and Luke Polselli (Falcons).

13. Lachlan Hubner – Central Queensland Capras

The assignment was clear for the Capras on Saturday, with Hubner joining Moore and Milford in putting in a mammoth performance. The lock played for 59 minutes and finished with a stunning 193 run metres, four tackle breaks, two offloads and 20 tackles.
