Connor Guley is a Rockhampton kid through and through. A Rockhampton Brothers junior who came through the Capras Under 19s system, Guley entered 2026 with one major goal: earn his Hostplus Cup debut. Now, he can tick that one off the list.

Breaking into the Hostplus Cup side marks another step in a pathway that has been firmly rooted in Central Queensland. His approach along the way has been measured and patient, fitting for a player who says the best advice he has received is simply to stay patient and trust that the results will come.

Away from footy, Guley has no shortage of interests. There’s guitar, golf, books, a solid cologne collection and a very devoted girlfriend. He can solve a Rubik’s cube, which is not a skill you hear from too many rugby league players, and rates The Dark Knight and The Prestige among the best films ever made.

On game day, a bowl of spaghetti the night before is the non-negotiable ritual, while Whip Ya Head Boy gets him going in the warm-up room. If rugby league hadn’t worked out, he reckons he would have given AFL a crack. And with LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Tom Brady among his sporting heroes, it’s clear his love of sport extends well beyond the rugby league field.
