Player Profile: Trey Brown
Thu 07 May 2026, 5:43 pm

Trey Brown started playing rugby league in Sydney, his first memory of the game a grand final at Redfern Oval with the Mascot Jets. He has been a long way from Redfern since then, the hooker debuted for the Capras in 2019 against Wynnum Manly and in 2023 was named Hostplus Cup Hooker of the Year, the standout individual honour of his career to date.

One game more than any other defines what the Capras mean to him. The 2022 Northern Pride semi-final, where the team were 22-0 down at halftime at Browne Park, a game that turns up repeatedly in the profiles of players who were on that field, and rightly so. Brown has been part of the culture that makes moments like that possible. His goal for 2026 is to get back to his best form and play consistent footy in maroon and navy.

The harder you work, the luckier you get, that is the lesson footy has handed him. Off the field, Trey is a golfer who loves watching other sports, has a thing for useless facts (his hidden talent, according to him), and follows the OKC Thunder. Danny Buderus is the childhood hero. The Pretender by Foo Fighters is the game day track.

And if rugby league hadn’t worked out? Stay-at-home dad. He sounds serious about it.
