The Central Queensland Capras fell 38–10 to Souths Logan Magpies in Round 9 of the BMD Premiership at Davies Park, Brisbane. In the penultimate game of their season, the Capras showed moments of fight through two tries to Tylah Phillips but were unable to match the home side’s pace and finishing.
Souths Logan began with immediate pressure, crossing in the opening minute before adding further tries in the 8th, 12th, and 23rd, with Tori Groves Little completing a quick hat trick. Phillips responded for the Capras in the 20th minute, adding her own conversion to close the margin, but the Magpies struck again soon after through Amanii Misa and then Montaya Hudson to lead 28–6 at the break.
The Magpies extended their advantage early in the second half with a try to Keira Rangi, and when Harlem Walker crossed in the 52nd minute the scoreline pushed further out of reach. The Capras kept battling and were rewarded when Phillips grabbed her second in the 65th minute, but missed opportunities and handling errors limited their chances to build momentum.
While the Magpies took control of the match through weight of possession and clinical finishing, the Capras continued to work hard and showed determination despite the scoreline. With one game left in the regular season, the side remains hungry to finish on a high and will be aiming to claim a breakthrough win in Round 10.
