In an electrifying Hostplus Cup encounter at Rugby Park Rockhampton, the Central Queensland Capras secured a 34-20 victory over the Brisbane Tigers. The match opened with early pressure from the Capras, as Connor Rothery was first on the board in the 8th minute. Ryan Jackson doubled the advantage five minutes later, putting the Capras 10-0 up. However, the Tigers responded quickly with Mitchell Spencer crossing for a try in the 21st minute, followed by a successful conversion by Noah Natapu to reduce the gap to 10-6.

Despite the Tigers closing in, the Capras maintained their composure, and just before the break, Kurtis Farr’s try in the 37th minute extended their lead to 14-6 at halftime.

The second half saw the Capras take control. Peyton Jenkins scored early in the 45th minute, pushing the Capras to an 18-6 lead. Despite a quick response from the Tigers with a try from Saimone Ahomana in the 56th minute, the Capras held firm. Connor Rothery added his second try of the night in the 69th minute, followed by one from Ben Condon in the 72nd minute extending the lead to 28-14.

Blake Moore’s successful conversion in the 73rd minute, along with a late try from Moore in the 75th minute, sealed the win for the Capras. The Tigers’ last-minute effort with a try from Vaka Sikahele in the 79th minute proved to be a mere consolation.
